Most insurance policies do not cover couples counseling. Â When they do cover it, we find that insurance companies often get in the way of good therapy, and they frequently require therapists to share information with them that clients prefer to keep confidential. By keeping insurance companies out of the equation we can focus our sessions on your therapeutic goals, rather than waste time and money justifying treatment and filling out reams of paperwork. And maybe the most important reason for wanting to avoid insurance companies is that most of them require therapists to use diagnosis codes to authorize treatment. Your diagnosis can follow you for years to come, and can affect your ability to obtain private insurance in the future. We believe labeling you with a diagnosis does not further your treatment, and we avoid it whenever possible.
