I am a relationship therapist who sincerely enjoys and thrives on helping couples, and individuals gain insight and understanding into themselves, as well as their relationships and connections with others. My genuine intrigue into understanding the complexities of how we think, behave and connect with others keeps me focused, dedicated and passionate about my role as a therapist. I firmly believe that when we can better understand ourselves, change is much more obtainable and long lasting. Helping couples and individuals apply the insight they have gained into positive change in their lives is something I never tire of – I love what I do.
I focus most of my clinical expertise on couples and family work, where I gravitate towards practicing from an Emotionally Focused Therapy perspective. Emotionally Focused Therapy helps couples to create both, a deeper understanding of one another and a better connection within their relationship, by utilizing evidenced based interventions. I also hold a strong interest in helping couples, and individuals who experience anxiety. When working with anxious clients, I tend to add some cognitive behavioural therapy interventions which are also evidenced based, into my emotionally focused and psychodynamic practices.
I hold 7 years of experience in the mental health field, in various areas, such as: domestic violence counseling, sexual assault crisis counseling, extensive work with teens within the foster care system, addictions counseling, couples and families counseling and anxiety work.
I’ve travelled to many different countries throughout my life and have lived in several different places as well. I was raised in Manitoba, Canada, which is where I completed my Honors BA in Psychology and Indigenous Studies. From Manitoba, I then moved to the island of Oahu in Hawaii, where I met my husband and completed my MA in Marriage and Family Therapy. I moved to Colorado in January of 2018 and have since completed training in Emotionally Focused Therapy and am working toward my certification. In my free time, I enjoy practicing yoga, hiking, taking my dog for walks and going to movies with my husband.
